The Belgian wholesale company Flamingo Pet Products is moving to a new property. The new building in Olen, near the previous company headquarters in Herentals, comprises a 33 500 sqm warehouse with a length of 240 metres and a width of 144 metres, a 6 300 m2 mezzanine floor and 4 600 m2 of office space on four levels. An eye-catcher on the mezzanine floor is the showroom of over 1 740 m2. Here, the Flamingo range of more than 8 500 products can be experienced. A total of 226 parking spaces have been created in front of the building for employees and visitors.
In addition, a pallet area with around 62 000 storage spaces was put into operation. These are stacked on six levels. The warehouse has 65 order picking vehicles that work on 42 order picking lanes. Around 10 000 picking lines are processed every day. The building also has 35 loading and unloading docks and three sectional doors for a smooth inflow and outflow of goods.
A special architectural feature of the new building is that the grey elements of the exterior façade turn pink when the sun shines on them. This is intended as a nod to the life cycle of the flamingo.
More than 250 people from 45 different companies worked on the construction of the building over a period of 425 days.
